Don’t Buy Powerplate Before You Read This:

Hi,

My Name is Bryant Meyers and I have a Masters Degree in Physics and A Bachelors in Premedicine and Physics. I am also a TV Show host in West Michigan for a Show called Forever Young.

My intense interest and constant research into natural healing led me to a discovery in exercise called “whole body vibration”. I began using a device called the Noblerex K1 and my back and spinal problems went away and I put on about 5 pounds of muscle in just a few short months. I actually quit my job teaching to share this technology with the world full time.

I have tried over a dozen different vibration machines including the Galileo 2000 (vibraflex in US), vibraslim, vibratrim, turbosonic, hypergravity, proellixe, soloflex wbv, vibrafit, the Noblerex K1, the Powerplate my3 and my5 and a few others.

In this article I want to share some SHOCKING and actually upsetting information regarding the Powerplate.

Powerplate is by far the largest Whole Body Vibration Company and as I have found out, the most crooked.

Before I expose very disturbing information about powerplate, I want to first share my experience with two of there most popular units, the power plate my3 and power plate my5

When I first saw the powerplate, I must admit the design was sheek and somewhat attractive. Having tried several other Whole Body vibration units, once I got on the powerplate it was a very uncomfortable feeling, especially compared to the oscillating models like the Noblerex k1 and Galileo. I tried a few of the basic exercises and got off with pain in my back and neck.

You see there are two basic types of whole body vibration machines Lineal or vertical displacement (moves up and down only) and pivotal or oscillating (moves like a see saw or teetor totter).

The Powerplate is a lineal system.

My research has shown that pivotal systems (stemming back to the original Galileo) have better research, are safer and more effective. My personal choice is the Noblerex K1 because it is about 1/4 the price of the orginal Galileo with almost all the same benefits. And in a survey at Ohio State University, 26 out of 28 people actually preferred the Noblerex K1 over the more expensive Galileo.

Back to Powerplate… Powerplate was not the first lineal system I tried. My favorite lineal is definitely the turbosonic which is much more gentle and effective. BUT, it starts at $13000 US (ouch).

Powerplate is my least favorite based on experience and this includes even the vibrafit which sells for as little as $300 (though I would not recommend this unit because it is cheaply made).

Besides a bad experience using the Powerplate, I have found out the company is unethical to the highest degree. Please read the below article from a Powerplate insider exposing their devious and unethical practices….

POWERPLATE EXPOSED — DO NOT BUY POWERPLATE BEFORE YOU READ THIS …. (written by a former Product Manager for Powerplate)

“I was once the Product Manager of the worlds largest Vibration Training marketing company. POWERPLATE. I left because of the highly unethical behaviour they demonstrated to me while I was in charge of Power-Plate N.Z. Ltd.

When I was first approched by Power-Plate to educate N.Z. about Vibration Training , I was more than happy to, after all thay had the most award won machine to date , with years of university tests behind them. It was produced in the Nederlands , and was of good quality.

Until something strange happened. They changed product suddenly on me with no prior warning and no documentation from that precise machine. So you can understand my concern , one of the models ( the first ) was made of Stainless Steel and the newer model ( Powerplate Next Generation ) was made of reinforced plastic ?

Now a Vibration Training platform is a sum of all its parts , what its made of ( shell ), what rubber is used ( isolators , shore hardness ?) What motors are used ( drive ) , what HZ rating is the machine running at ( how fast or slow ), what is the entire mass of the machine etc… simply put a machine MUST be callabrated properly for it to work. You can not just share one or two parts , change everything else and expect the same result. When I asked for the specs for the new model , they gave me copies of the older machines specs just with a photo of the new one pasted onto them. This raised my suspicion something underhanded had happened , so I made contact with a man called Kevin Barkley-Webb who was involved with Powerplate in the U.K. ( their top salesperson ).

And this is what I was told.

The engineering company that made the plates in Holland caught the head of Powerplate ( the marketing company in charge of selling the units ) making replicas of their machine in China. They were still made of steel and you could not tell them apart.
Powerplate then forgoes pretending to build good copies and produces a plastic machine quickly so as not to lose any marketing momentum gained under the original PowerPlate machine. Hoping name recognition and flashy marketing alone would hide the massive product fade.

As if that isn’t enough they then proceeded to attach University reports , Specs , Celebrity Endorsments and Awards to the new untested models .

During this time I was also asked as their Product Manager to directly market the product to people with physical disabilities even though all our trainers including our general Manager had expressed concern that the new plastic model given to us was not performing to spec. I now assume this was done as these people would be seen as ” soft targets ” and would never put the new model to the test .

To prove this point, the day after a meeting was held about the severe difference in machine quality I was asked to keep an appointment with a local blind institute.

To add to my concerns at the same time I was trying to sort that problem out , our first Australasian customer Judith Shorrock had to get legal advice , to gain access to units ( the original steel Power-Plates ) that had been paid for months earlier . An attempted swap for plastic units had taken place but I had found out and warned her.

I am involved in the development of Vibration Training to help people , not to stand by and let marketers rip them off so I told PowerPlate what I thought of them , and the reaction I got was this

” what are you going to do , you are just poor little Kiwi man “

and yes that is exactly what they said word for word.

***** IN SUMMARY, POWERPLATE IS SELLING A RIPPED OFF PLASTIC VERSION OF A QUALITY PRODUCT FROM HOLLAND THAT IS NOW MADE IN CHINA FOR A SMALL PRICE COMPARED TO WHAT THEY CHARGE…. POWERPLATE IS GOOD AT MARKETING, POOR AT BEING HONEST AND MAKING GOOD VIBRATION TRAINING EQUIPMENT…. ******
